Our Mission
Our Mission
Delve Dance Chicago is a dance company that performs modern and contemporary choreography. We provide emerging independent choreographers and dancers with performance opportunities throughout the Chicago dance community. We provide work in progress showings for Chicago choreographers and dancers to be able to receive helpful feedback and to make connections with other artists. In addition, we host larger dance festivals where we spotlight emerging independent choreographers. We aim to showcase new artistic voices and to encourage them along their creative journeys.

Rachel Katz is the founder and artistic director of Delve Dance Chicago. She founded Delve Dance Chicago to provide opportunities for performance and connection within the Chicago dance community. Rachel is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University with a BA in dance. Currently she is a profes
Rachel Katz is the founder and artistic director of Delve Dance Chicago. She founded Delve Dance Chicago to provide opportunities for performance and connection within the Chicago dance community. Rachel is from Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University with a BA in dance. Currently she is a professional dancer with J. Lindsay Brown Dance and has also danced for Tapestry Dance Company and Chicago Verge Dance Theater. She has presented her choreography at Delve Showcase, Kaleidoscope Choreographers’ Festival, Vaudeville Roars, Fraction, and Chicago Freelance Dance. Most recently, she choreographed a short dance film called “Rail Trail” for Project Bound Dance’s “One Hour Project.” Rachel can usually be found outdoors- watching the sunrise, chasing her 2 little ones, and exploring new movement pathways.

Rebecca Crystal graduated with a BFA in Dance with minors in English and Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then received her Dance Education licensure from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed her student teaching at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. Rebecca Crystal graduated with a BFA in Dance with minors in English and Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then received her Dance Education licensure from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed her student teaching at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. Rebecca taught dance full-time in Chicago Public Schools for three years and spent four summers on dance faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp. She has taught at The Chicago High School for the Arts, Joel Hall Dance Center, and Foster Dance Studios, and has worked as a Teaching Assistant with Hubbard Street’s Movement as Partnership program in schools. Rebecca has studied in Israel as a trainee with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and has studied Gaga with Ohad Naharin/Batsheva Dance Company. Rebecca is currently in her final year of a Masters of Dance Education program through the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She has been involved in Delve since its inception in 2013, and continues her work as a choreographer and co-director of the project.
